One of the things I love most about moombahton is how producers from all over the world are finding newer and more original way to infuse electronic music with latin sounds. It’s great to see culture added into the electronic music scene – a scene which carries the unfair stigma of being heavily associated with drugs and raves. Tracks like these show the naysayers that not only are producers able to make tracks with integrity, they can also make you dance too.
Fugue State – Heisenberg
In this track, British producer Heisenberg has taken given us a playful rendition of a hip hop track that lightens things up and makes it perfectly suited for any lounge or club.
Lady (Ackeejuice Remix) – Modjo
Okay, so maybe “Lady” isn’t traditional latin per se, but it still has the sound and Ackeejuice has successfully turned this originally weak track into a danceable, enjoyable throwback remix. Ackeejuice is a project by DJ King P and Ali Selecta out of Bassano, Italy, and after hearing the work produced by these guys, Ckrono, and Lapo, has me really excited about the possibility of Italy as a hotbed of moombahton production.
Ta Violento (Ckrono Remix) – Javier Estrada
My favourite producer from Florence, Ckrono, has done his latin infusion an entirely different way. In this case we’ve got spanish vocals and typical energetic drums, but with a dark vibe that makes it far more suitable for dubheads, underground clubs, and big shows. Ckrono’s also been kind enough to give us a .WAV download completely free so DJs, snap this one up.
