The Kick the Bass EP has been widely influential since dropping at the end of March and has received support from names like Benny Bennassi and Fatboy Slim. The author of that EP, Gosteffects, is the latest moniker for production wiz John Bourke and has garnered A list attention for REAL. A top five electro house charting release that stayed in the Beatport Top 100 for over six weeks, it was followed by a remix E.P. that featured a remix of Gosteffect’s “Let The Bass Kick” by .357 Magnum. If you haven’t heard the track before, it’s a storming moombahcore anthem. We’ve had a long love affair with that track here on Moomba+ first posting it on our Youtube back in November 2011!! I’ve written a lot about Mendez and his contributions to moombahton both in terms of tracks and spirit. These edits he continues to do are always different, always timely and instructive. I have heard rumblings of a return to house music. While I find that unlikely, I think that house will figure more prominently in moombahton as it matures and guys like Mendez and Oktored know this and encourage it. There are more flavors to Mendez’ latest releases than just moombahton but this is top notch biz.
