Well many Moomba+ readers will take some time out this summer to watch the Olympics in London, most of us will continue on with our summer rituals of excessive partying and recovery. In order to aid in that effort, here are some tunes that could all win Gold at the Moombahton Olympics.
Aaliyah was pretty wonderful. I hope that those of you who were lucky enough to have been alive when she was actively working appreciated her. So much better than the average pop/rap/teen stars that come down the production line today. Fase De Cinco did a slick little edit of this Aaliyah and Drake track “Enough Said” that should be played at some gigs this weekend. Give the crowds the gift of Aaliyah (and maybe mix out b4 Drake hits….lol).
I’m going to go ahead and make several assumptions. One is that some of our readers didn’t even know what moombahton was this time last year. Second, some of our readers party hard enough not to remember this time last year. And third, some of you enjoy a walk back through time. So, I present a song from a year ago, from Luny P, that I encourage you to check out.
Electrobangers is an amazing blog and Kovary an amazing producer and so it’s little doubt that the two would strike “Gold” with the free release of Kovary’s latest, “Voices”. Check it.
Beat Down the Kid just was featured on Moomba+ New Wave 4 Compilation but the track he did for that release isn’t the only one people are talking about. Try and tell me what dancefloor this song won’t work on…
The Al Gore Rhythm Method continues to put out track after track including this one, “Magma Chamber”, which is a groovy little number that looks good on a podium getting a medal or in your mp3 collection. Versatile little “Magma Chamber”.
Apocalyptro comes with another hard, hitting slice of mechanized moombahton. I like the pan effects early on and the tension builds nicely. If you aren’t familiar with this producer and you enjoy this sound, make an Olympian effort to find out more. Really good hard tracks to be had by all.
Team Jaguar is one of our favorite artists at Moomba+. They have a forthcoming release on Rot10 August 22nd and they have none other than Sazon Booya on the remix duties. We will feature several of the other remixes in coming days but check out Sazon Booya’s take on “Krups”.
