Back in the days when I was young, I’m not a kid anymore.

And everybody say, I remember way back when

Remember when moombahton was fun? Not to sound like Missy Elliott on the opening of an album or something but we used to really like this shit. This song reminds me of why I like moombahton. Big ups to Buzz A Buzz.

Madison, Wisconsin and Miami, Florida have to split time with an amazing electro producer known as Soundkill3r. Madison is also home to up and coming moombahton producers The Al Gore Rhythm Method who recently put “Saderas” up for download and which was featured right here on Moomba+. Now, Soundkill3r and TAGRM have teamed up to make this latest slice of dancefloor loving. “Rock3t” has a nasty bass line, epic synth breakdown and a killer drop. We like that right?

The 13th Tribe has released so much music it’s hard to believe they do it all without any step recording. Not only have they been posting tunes daily for some time but have also been posting videos frequently as of late. The song posted here is called “North Orchard Street” and features Sara. It’s a slice of real moombahton that would work really well in an early evening summer set outdoors. My DJ partner and I are playing this frequently on Moomba+ Radio and are planning to include it in our next mix. Give this a listen and fit some 13th Tribe into your life.

Aglory burst out the gates with a Rot10 release earlier this year that was an absolute killer. “Sin Capuchaa” has been rinsed by so many big DJ’s including Rot10′s own Sazon Booya and Moomba+’s Viciouz Viv. This remix of Zedd’s “Spectrum” is for a contest and the sound is really big. Anyone who thinks that Aglory can’t work it just needs to listen to the big edit and drop sequence in this track. So many amazing changes too, you won’t get bored listening to this one front to back.

Here is absolute proof that moombahton with folk music references need not be referencing Latino folk music. Balkanton never sounded so good! Big ups to Dazed Dog for a great track and for stepping outside the box and adding musical influences from unexpected places.

This one got reposted in the moombahton/moombahcore group and I know that lots of DJ’s are looking for those familiar moombahton edits. Bell Biv Devoe. Now ya know.

Moombahton is everywhere and it’s sub-genres, offshoots and kissing cousins are very healthy at the moment. A big resurgence in moombahsoul production, new and exciting sounds from the UK and homegrown creations by the likes of Dillon Francis and Oktored demonstrate that our scene is “all over the place”…..in a good way. This article will reflect the state of the scene, sounds from all over the spectrum. Awesome.

Let’s start off with some excellent folk vibes from Viciouz Viv. A nice subtle edit that shows moombahton’s roots and reminds the listener that enjoyable moomba need not be aggressive and/or hyphy. Although we’ll get there….

What’s up, DJ Bounz? He recently released his Pancakes! DJ mix and now comes with a club banger moombah refix that shows why moombahton absolutely belongs on dancefloors, even ones that have dancers that normally wouldn’t list EDM as an interest

There is top notch electro and dutch influenced tracks that make listeners take notice because of the blend of today’s and tomorrow’s sound. One release that exhibits this is Tittsworth, Rez and Des McMahon’s “Juicy Jorts” EP. You have to pick this one up on Beatport but it’s well worth it. Dark and dirty funk workouts!!

Walmer Convenience gets all the best exclusives. Okay, maybe not, but they sure do get a lot of good ones. MiniMaxX and DJEJ are friends of Moomba+ and Rot10 Music recording artists so we are very happy to share with you their beyond excellent track they did for the geniuses at Walmer Convenience. This track reminds us of two things. One, moombahton has latin roots and a dembow. Two, no one does that better than Rot10.

And finally a reminder that a lot of moombahton is a synth line and a dirty sample thrown over a dembow. Nothing wrong with that…

As I let the waves of information we call the internet crash over me yesterday, I noticed that many dance music enthusiasts desired to have a “bangin’ new year”. How are we going to make sure that 2012 is the most banging year ever? One way to do it is to make sure you have access to some hot new moombahcore and we do a pretty damn good job of that here at Moomba+ if I do say so myself. Let’s get it!

WES DE GRAAF

One producer and remixer who I am super hot on right now is none other than Wes De Graaf. He is associated with some major players in the scene such as Club Cartel and ROT10 Records and a producer to keep an eye on in the upcoming year. Tracks featured here are his original “Pull Up Riddim” which consistently draws other DJ’s eyes to my laptop when I drop it and two extra hot moombahcore remixes. He was kind enough to drop “Outta Your F’n Mind” on his listeners just yesterday making it a happy new year. De Gizzle for shizzle (yeah, I just did that).

Wes De Graaf “Pull Up Riddim”

Big Sean x Wale x Wes De Graaf “(S)Light Work”

Wes De Graaf x Lil Jon “Outta Your F’kn Mind”

TEKNICOLOR

As Dave Nada has noted many times in the past, moombahton belongs to the world and the internet much more than it does any particular city such as Washington, D.C. Proof of this is provided by a producer named Teknicolor who hails from Wausau, WI, a somewhat unlikely locale for a sound forward soldier such as himself. Teknicolor makes me proud to be a Cheesehead and I hope you enjoy his sounds because I know he is going to keep bringing them to the massive in 2012 and beyond.

Teknicolor “Circle of Life” original mix

Von “Louder” Teknicolor remix

The young lady in the photograph is Jenna and she is a real Moomba+ listener. I would encourage pics from any of our female fans. Send them to christianrokkdj@gmail.com
